TheOneRing.Net - TORN, as this invaluable site is usually known, is one of the biggest and best Tolkien fansites online. Run by Xoanon and a team of fellow-fans, it provides news updates on the trilogy of films from New Line Cinema, and has the friendliest messageboards anywhere.

Official film site - Although the official site could be updated more often, it has some extremely nice things to download and ogle, and you're welcomed by a cast member - Christopher Lee's greeting is great!

Encyclopaedia of Arda - This site does have some errors, a few of them glaring, but ultimately it is a good source of all things Tolkien.

Rolozo Tolkien - About every image relating to Tolkien you could wish for.

The Mithril Awards for Tolkien Fanfiction - Rewarding high-quality Tolkien fanfic, essays and poems. Awarded annually.

Henneth Annûn - An archive of quality Tolkien fanfiction. Submissions have to be accepted by members of the site, resulting in only the best getting through. I'm not going to give a list of recommendations because there'd be too many.

Stories of Arda - More Tolkien fanfic, this time self-submitted.

Shadowstar - I am truly in awe of MJ's writing - it's stunningly good, and very moving. Her LOTR fanfic and essays alike are definitely worth reading.
