Hithlum
was the region of Middle-earth which, during the First Age, was held by
the Elven-king Fingon. In these lands lived many Men, friendly to the Elves.
One great house was that of Húrin, father to Túrin Turambar
and his sister Nienor. Their mother Morwen, a lady of surpassing beauty
and wisdom, was given the name Eledhwen by her
people, referring to the brightness of her eyes which seemed almost Elvish.
When I first needed an online nickname, I chose this, and it seems appropriate
now to give Eledhwen an online home. Welcome to Hithlum. |
I
first read J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings one New Year's
Eve. Ever since it has been an important part of my life, with many rereads.
In 1999, the discovery that New Line Cinema were making a film version
excited me immensely, and I went to find out more. I happened upon TheOneRing.Net,
affectionately known as TORN, and have stayed there ever since. Spending
time with fellow Tolkien-addicts has made me start writing again - again,
because when I first read LOTR I started writing fiction based
on the story. Now, my Tolkien fan fiction library has expanded greatly.
All
these stories are written purely for my own pleasure, and the characters
and places featured belong to the Tolkien Estate. I get no profit from
the work on these pages.
At the moment my stories are all, save one, set during the Third Age or
later, and vary from short scenes to long, multi-chapter pieces. I've
catalogued them into three groups: hobbit-centric stories, in The
Shire; stories about Men, in Minas Tirith; and the rest,
in Rivendell. |
